California State Highway 46 starts a few miles south of Cambria, veering off west from Highway 1 (the famous Pacific Coast Highway which runs along the complete coast of California). It runs through some beautiful coastal hills climbing to about 1700 feet before descending into Paso Robles. It's always a favorite drive any time of the year, but this time of year it's spectacular - and always reminds me of an Irish song I heard once - "40 Shades of Green".

Ireland's not called the Emerald Isle for nothing. When Husband was working in Dublin, we lived over there for a year. We drove round the Ring of Kerry and it was exactly like the "Heidi" stories, with green velvet slopes, dotted with white sprakling flowers. Your photos are gorgeous, we are, by contrast, enjoying much MUD here in England :)
So pretty! And I want to go to England & Ireland so much....I guess we should just move back to the central coast!!!!!
I had no idea this was in Cal. i would have never guessed. Green is good. My Irish blood started to flow.
Love all your entries. You're getting pretty good with that camera. I going to add 40 shades of green to my itunes list. Great, absolutely great!! Pat
