I'm feeling kind of guilty because we have been having such nice weather while the rest of the country is suffering through frigid temps and lots of snow! Really. Seriously. I'm sorry!! But here are some more photos from a perfectlly lovely Sunday spent in Cambria.
The oxalis, wild poppies, pride of madera, wild mustard and ice plant are beginning to bloom everywhere along the coast, and the ornamental fruit trees are bursting into bloom as well. The hillsides are a lovely shade of green, and the black cattle really stand out! And we saw about 7 zebras mingling with the cattle near San Simeon. Sparkling blue ocean and temps in the high 60's made for a lovely day along the coast.
There's been quite an uproar around here lately because of those zebras! They are remnants of the zoo that W.R. Hearst kept at his "Castle" many years ago. They run wild on the ranch, but recently several of them managed to get out and onto another ranch, where they were shot by the owner who said they were threatening his horses. Quite a "to-do" in the local papers about it.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos, and if you are having winter weather, here's hoping spring-like weather will come your way soon!
